In today’s edition of The Intelligencer, Quinte West’s Mayor, John Williams, has stated his municipality is not trying to steal away plans for a racetrack
and slots parlour in Belleville.
Williams set the record straight one day after the OLG announced it plans to meet later this month with the Mayor of Quinte West and Neil Ellis, Mayor of Belleville.
“Let’s be clear that the meeting on the 29th we asked for,” Williams said. “They didn’t come to see Belleville, they’re coming because we asked them to. The whole idea of our meeting with the OLG is to find out what’s going on, in my mind, and to find out if there’s any type of timeline.”
