On Wednesday, May 6, Princess Royal became the first two-year-old Standardbred to record a qualifying win in 2020.
The pacing filly won the first of nine qualifying races Wednesday morning at Florida's Olympia of Palm Beach Training Center.
Princess Royal, a daughter of Royel Millennium, is out of the Real Artist mare Check This. Princess Royal was driven by Ken Holliday for trainer Sergio Corona.
Princess Royal achieved the notable feat in the first race of the nine-dash docket.
The race in question was just a two-horse affair. The other participant in the race, who was also a two-year-old, broke stride before the quarter pole and was eventually pulled up.
Princess Royal cut the fractions in :33, 1:09.2 and 1:43.3, and hit the wire in 2:19.2.
Princess Royal is owned and was bred by Amante Standardbreds, Inc. of Delray Beach.
Holliday-driven charges recorded the fastest win times of the session, as Holliday went on to win Race 7 and 8 in 1:57. He won Race 7 with Roll With Angel for trainer John Mungillo, and copped Race 8 with Lt Col Je Leonard for trainer Richie Silverman.
Race 5 featured a dead heat, as Celebrity Bianca and Lady Jeter were inseparable at the wire in 2:00.3.
Tee Wine, age 24, made his driving debut in Race 3 and finished third.
