Major Herbie Matches GRR Record

A track record-matching mile was turned in by Major Herbie at Grand River Raceway on Monday evening as a result of the ridgling touring the half-mile oval in

1:58.2. The performance equaled the record for three-year-old trotting colts set by Poof K on September 1, 2010.

Major Herbie was parked to the quarter pole in :29.2 before being released to the lead. He ripped through panels of :59 and 1:28.4 for trainer/driver Wayne Henry before using a :29.3 final frame to seal the deal. He drew clear to win by four lengths over Lollipop Gal, with Suzys Solitaire taking home the show award.

Henry Stable of Arthur and Dan McCann of Parkhill, ON share ownership on the Here Comes Herbie-Independent Dame ridgling who won for the first time in three tries this season. The four-time winner has banked $72,225 to date.
