Backing horses driven by Guy Gagnon or trained by Gerard Demers at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Sunday evening would have led to a very profitable night at the track
.
Gagnon rang the bell five times and Demers clicked with three of his charges, and together they teamed up to win the co-featured $14,000 Preferred Trot.
Guilford proved to be their ticket to victory lane in the top tilt for trotters thanks to his gate-to-wire tally in 1:56.4. The six-year-old son of Angus Hall, who is owned by 9174 7998 Quebec Inc of Blainville, QC, won as he pleased over Star Ruffnready and Canbec Fridolin.
That trainer/driver duo also took the checkered flag with SOS Breezer (1:58) in Race 7 and Call Me Butch (1:59.1) in Race 9.
Gagnon also clicked with Malachi Three Ten (1:58.1), a horse from his own barn, in Race 1 and that one’s stablemate, Aint No Hearsay (1:52.3), in the co-featured $14,000 Preferred Pace. The five-year-old son of Final Cheers tracked cover before springing into action in the late stages of the mile. He used a :28.3 final frame to knock off P H Bestman and Priceless Edition.
Sent off at 24-1, the gelding won for the fourth time this season and for the 13th time in his career. The career winner of $196,437 is owned by Ecuries Guy Gagnon, Gestion Louis Latulippe Inc and Placements M Latulippe Inc of Quebec.
