As the calendar flips to May, many of harness racing's top performers from 2021 have started to return to the racetrack for the upcoming stakes season.

Many of those horses comprise the 2022 TROT Magazine Fantasy Stable, with entries closing on Friday, May 27. Trot Insider will break down the contenders in each category as the deadline approaches. (All entries and results information is up to date as of publication, with the May 7 opening leg of the Graduate yet to be published.)

Our first feature examined the participants comprising Groups G and H. This feature looks at the contenders in Groups E and F, with the remaining groups to be profiled in advance of the contest deadline.

GROUP E

Whichwaytothebeach (Somebeachsomewhere – Swinging Beauty) snuck onto the Grand Circuit scene last year after wins in the Reynolds Memorial and two divisions of The Stallion Series. By August, he butted heads with some of harness racing's top sophomores to win an $86,250 division of the Somebeachsomewhere, finish third in the $1-million North America Cup and third in the $397,080 Little Brown Jug. Richard “Nifty” Norman now trains the gelding for owner Gino Toscani. He last raced in the $100,000 Borgata Consolation on April 25 at Yonkers Raceway, finishing fifth.

With her first foal on the ground via embryo transfer, Atlanta (Chapter Seven – Hemi Seelster) returns to the track for her seven-year-old season. The world champion mare, trained by Ron Burke, scored wins in the $156,000 Joie De Vie and $187,400 John Steele Memorial along with a second in the $300,000 Breeders Crown Mare Trot and a third in the $233,000 Armbro Flight. She is owned by Crawford Farms Racing, Brad Grant and Howard Taylor and made her first steps onto the track on April 30 with a sharp qualifier at The Meadowlands, trotting in 1:56.1.

Another pupil for Ron Burke, Southwind Gendry (Always B Miki – Gamblers Passion) started the season strong with wins in Pennsylvania Sires Stakes and a Meadowlands Pace elimination before hitting snags in his form but nonetheless cashing cheques in the Meadowlands Pace Final, Adios Final and Breeders Crown.
