It has been announced that Glenn Sikura and Candice Dixon will soon be assuming new positions with The Jockey Club of Canada.

Upon the completion of his three-year term, Jeffrey Begg will be stepping down as chief steward of The Jockey Club of Canada.

The Board of Stewards has appointed Sikura to succeed Begg as chief steward, effective June 9, 2018 at the Jockey Club of Canada’s annual general meeting.

Sikura has been a predominant figure in the Canadian Thoroughbred industry for many years and has been a member of the Jockey Club of Canada for several decades. Sikura is also the past president of CTHS Ontario Division and current director, the past president of the CTHS National Division, the past president of the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame, past president of OHRIA, and a former director of both the Breeders Cup Limited and TOBA.

Begg was named chief steward of The Jockey Club of Canada in 2015. The Jockey Club of Canada thanks Begg for his time and dedication to the organization. Begg will remain on the Board of Stewards of The Jockey Club of Canada until his term as a steward officially ends next year at the annual members meeting in 2019.

The Jockey Club of Canada is also pleased to announce that Dixon will take over as general manager of The Jockey Club of Canada, effective May 1, 2018.

Dixon has always had a passion for horses. Formerly a longtime assistant trainer to Catherine Day Phillips, Dixon has worked in the industry for over 15 years. The Jockey Club of Canada looks forward to working with Dixon and believes she will be an asset to the organization.
