The outpouring of support for the horsepeople that lost horses and equipment in the May 11 barn fire at the former Kingston Park Raceway has been overwhelming. Now, to little fanfare, a story has emerged in a local newspaper about how a trainer on the WEG circuit is doing his part to help out.
A report by the Kingston Whig-Standard explains that trainer Rob Fellows surprised conditioner Matt Harvey by giving him a horse from his stable. Harvey lost two horses in the fire at the former raceway.
The article states that Harvey had contacted Fellows about purchasing Undercover Boss, a three-year-old son of Ken Warkentin. In turn, Fellows surprised Harvey by giving him the brown gelding.
"I didn't want to sell them anything if they really needed it," Fellows told The Whig. "It just seemed the right thing to do."
Fellows added that, "When you have the means, you should do it."
Harvey was humbled by the gesture.
“You race tooth and nail against each other and when it's all over and said and done, it's just another day,” he was quoted as saying, adding, "We're all sportsmen that way. We all have more friends than we know."

May I take this moment to thank you Mr. Fellows for the gesture you did for Mr. Harvey, it warms my heart to see what fellow horsemen do for one another.Your world is a million miles away from the world we live in every day with all that's going on... the rich getting greedier and the hypocrites being more hypocritical. I hope your world and all the horse people's world stays that way. A MOST BEAUTIFUL GESTURE, and do not forget, WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND. Have a good day.
I'm the first one to say that
I'm the first one to say that the term "class act" is sometimes thrown around too easily these days... but Rob Fellows (and I'm speaking from first-hand experience) is TRULY a class-act! Well done Robert :)
