More Racetrack Sabotage

In April, the Standardbred Canada website featured a story about a section of a Down Under racetrack being deliberately ‘poisoned.’ There is no poison related to this next story, but officials are suspecting that a deliberate sabotage of a racing surface has taken place.

The Western Advocate has reported that Friday’s scheduled program of Thoroughbred racing Down Under at Tyers Park was salvaged even though a 100-metre section of racetrack was subjected to heavy watering Thursday night.

The article states that Bathurst police have begun a detailed investigation into the incident, which is being treated as a case of sabotage.

This is not the first instance that a water issue at the track has been featured on the SC website. This past November, a story about sprinklers turning on as horses hit the head of the stretch made news on standardbredcanada.ca.
