Followers of horse racing have seen many strange occurrences over the past few years. Be it bears, skunks, geese, seagulls or even fans on the track, nothing seems to amaze any more.
During a recent contest at the Bathurst Race Course in New South Wales, Australia, a malfunctioning sprinkler system came alive and made for some dicey moments as a field of runners was straightening for the homestretch.
A report by Yahoo! Sports explains that there were no injuries to either the riders or the horses competing in the race.
The article goes on to state that Path To Freedom was the eventual winner of the race. Winning tickets were honoured, but the report explains that the raceway was forced to refund all of the losing tickets.
