Rose Run Whitney enjoyed a 30.1 second-quarter breather — and needed every bit of it to eke out her second straight victory in Friday’s feature at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows, a $12,500 conditioned trot.
The lone mare in the field, Rose Run Whitney had to deal with a pair of challengers late — Stickler Hanover in the Lightning Lane, Donatover outside. But Mike Wilder kept the four-year-old daughter of Uncle Peter-Stonebridge Dancer to her task, and she held off Stickler Hanover by a head in 1:55, with Donatover third.
Bill Daugherty, Jr. trains Rose Run Whitney, who won for the sixth time this year and improved her lifetime bankroll to $195,588, for lessee Susan Daugherty, Dave Palone piloted three winners on the 11-race card while Ridge Warren collected two victories to lift his career total to 999.
Live racing at The Meadows continues Saturday when the 13-race program features a pair of stakes for three-year-old filly trotters — a $133,980 Pennsylvania Sires Stake and a $60,000 PA Stallion Series event. On the wagering front, the card offers two carryovers — $11,587.03 in the final-race Super Hi-5, $4,271.11 in the Jackpot Pick 5 (race 4).
