Two divisions of three-year-old pacing colts lined up behind the starting gate on Wednesday (May 16) at Hoosier Park Racing & Casino to square off in the first round of the $30,000 Indiana Gold Sires Stakes action

Jason Miller’s Our Lucky Chip earned his first career sires stakes victory with an impressive 1:52 romp in the opening split with Trace Tetrick at the lines.
Unhurried out of the gate, the son of Arts Chip found himself fourth along the rail as That Man of Mine left alertly for driver Ed Hensley from post eight through an opening quarter of :27.1. Josh Sutton opted out of a pocket trip as he had the bettors' second choice, Fridaynightflight, aimed at the leader down the backside through a half-mile clocking in :57.2.
Tetrick gave the green light to Our Lucky Chip heading into the final and was in front of the field just past the three-quarter pole in a time of 1:25.3. The heavy betting favourite opened up two lengths on the field and pressed on to the wire, winning by three and a quarter lengths over a hard-charging Mykindachip and Pete Wrenn. Fridaynightflight held on for the third place finish.
Our Lucky Chip paid $2.40 for the win. Trained by Jason Miller, who also co-owns the colt with Bradley Roller, Our Lucky Chip has now increased his lifetime bankroll over $35,000. The colt suffered his only loss of the season after an uncharacteristic break in a leg of the Tubby Trimble Series.
Moveoutofmyway and Hensley staged a big rally late in the lane to overcome the bettors' choice, Jammin Joshua, by a head in 1:53.4 in the second division of the sires stakes action.
Ron Burke’s other half of his trained entry in the race was the first to get the call as Ricky Macomber Jr. had Star Chaser on the front from post eight in an opening panel of :27. Looking For Jack and Pete Wrenn benefitted from the pocket trip as Brown Titan and Trace Tetrick followed closely in third.
The field remained in straight alignment until just past the half-mile marker in a soft :57.3 as Tetrick had Brown Titan out and firing. Jammin Joshua and Sam Widger were well placed second over and Moveoutofmyway tracked them intently third over.
As the field hit the three-quarter mark in 1:26.3, it was a sprint to the finish. Moveoutofmyway began to close in on the leaders, reaching the finish line first by a head over Jammin Joshua, who closed well for second. Looking For Jack held on nicely for third.
It was the third seasonal victory in seven starts for the gelded son of Dontgetinmyway. Trained by Burke, Moveoutofmyway has earned over $25,000 for his connections of Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi, and Frank Baldachino. Moveoutofmyway returned $12.20 to his backers.
Indiana Sires Stakes action continues at Hoosier Park Racing & Casino on Thursday, May 17 with one $30,000 division of three-year-old filly trotters.
