Lady Cafe Au Lait Favoured In CDP Distaff Feature

A talented field of pacing mares will line up in the Thursday night feature as Lady Cafe Au Lait makes her East Coast debut at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The $5,550 Fillies & Mares Preferred Pace, carded as race 11, headlines the 12-dash card with first race post time at 6 p.m. (ADT).

Lady Cafe Au Lait will leaves from post four as the morning line favourite with Paul Langille in the bike for trainer Earl Watts. The mare ships in from Ontario where she was a winner her last two starts in March at Woodbine Mohawk Park for trainer Bo Ford in 1:53.4 and 1:52.3. The four-year-old daughter of Big Jim-Lady Latte, who is seeking win number 12 of her $200,000+ career, is owned by Windemere Farms of Springvale, P.E.I., and Matt and David Burke of Stratford, P.E.I.

Promise Me Later from post three was a winner at this level last week for driver Gilles Barrieau and trainer Luke Burke. The five-year-old daughter of Articulator-Promise Me Later has been razor sharp in recent weeks, hitting the ticket in all three of her recent starts.

Prince County Horsemen’s Club Aged Pacing Mare of the Year, Brokeandoutofgas gets post two for rookie driver Landon Campbell, who scored the first win of his career on Saturday at Red Shores Charlottetown. The 18-year-old driver will sit behind the five-year-old daughter of Arthur Blue Chip and Onehotvett for trainer Tammy Collings.

Lady Devine, to be driven by Brady Sweet, has post five for trainer Jennifer Doyle while Shake N Blake gets post six with Ken Murphy driving from the Doyle barn. Another Doyle trainee, Sweet Molly, rounds out the field from the rail for driver David Dowling.

The "Post Time Picks" sides with Lady Cafe Au Lait in the feature: “Lady Cafe Au Lait looked great in the qualifier and fired home in a snappy :27.1 to close it out. She lines up in the same spot and Langille gets the call to drive so don’t be shocked if they hit the wire first.”

The evening back-up class in race nine has Moon Bound (Dowling) looking for her fourth straight in the $4,600 dash with rail control from the Doyle barn. Nathaniel Smith and Greg Kirby of Maine share ownership in the four-year-old, who holds the distinction of the winningest offspring of Bet The Moon.
