Bruno No No No became the fastest pacer in Flamboro Downs history and broke the Canadian pacing record for a half-mile track with a 1:48.2 victory in the second $35,000 Charles Juravinski Memorial Cup elimination for four-year-olds on Sunday, May 10.

Less than an hour after Prince Hal Hanover set a new track and Canadian record for an aged pacing stallion in the first elimination, Bruno No No No reduced it by another full second. Doug McNair floated the New Holland Series winner away from post three and sat him behind the early action as Fifth And Five (James MacDonald) looked to take command but was pocketed by Fallout (Tim Tetrick). Bruno No No No then swept to the lead at the quarter in :26.1 and flew through middle panels of :53.1 and 1:20.3, leading a strung-out field. Neither Fallout nor Fifth And Five had a response down the stretch as Bruno No No No closed out his mile in :27.4 and stopped the clock in 1:48.2, Flamboro’s fastest ever mile. Fallout held off Fifth And Five for second, 2-1/4 lengths back of the winner. Lite Up The World (Mark MacDonald) finished fourth, and Out Of Ice (Jody Jamieson) completed the top five.

Bruno No No No lowered the short-lived mark for an aged pacing stallion set by Prince Hal Hanover and beat gelding Linedrive Hanover’s overall track and national record of 1:49 from the 2022 Juravinski Memorial final. He has established himself as one of Ontario’s top older pacers at four with five wins in his first seven starts, including a Woodbine Mohawk Park Open. The All Bets Off-Winbak Alice stallion moved to the barn of trainer Dave Menary after his three-year-old year and is now owned by Pollack Racing LLC of Venetia, Pa. He is now 13-for-35 lifetime with $249,430 in earnings. The win price was $3.

Prince Hal Hanover, coming off a victory in the Pacey Mindlin Memorial Invitational to start his four-year-old campaign, impressed with a 1:49.2 victory in the first elimination. He took a similar route to Bruno No No No, initially settling in third before vaulting to the lead at the first station in :26.2 and supplying :54.3 and 1:22 middle splits. Todd McCarthy showed no urgency late as Prince Hal Hanover kicked home to win by 1-1/2 lengths over pocket-sitter Sugar Man (Louis-Philippe Roy). Rick Wink (Tim Tetrick) was third, followed by Ayeaye Captain Deo (James MacDonald) and Saba Rock (Doug McNair). The 1:49.2 mile shaved a tick off the previous aged pacing horse record, which was set by Bulldog Hanover in his 2022 Juravinski elim.

The Dr. Ian Moore-trained Prince Hal Hanover is now 12-for-33 lifetime and has earned $1,613,883 for Prince Hal Hanover Stable of Cambridge, Ont. The 2025 Adios Pace winner, a son of Captaintreacherous-Percy Bluechip, is two-for-two this year. He paid $3.30 to win.

The $259,500 final of the Charles Juravinski Memorial Cup, named for the co-founder of Flamboro who passed away in 2022, is set for May 17 at Flamboro. The posts for the final were drawn following the eliminations.
