Based on the way he’s been racing since returning from a layoff, one might be inclined to think that Eldorado Max’s water pail is being replenished on a daily basis with water from the Fountain of Youth
.
The 14-year-old stalwart returned to the racing wars on April 25 at Western Fair Raceway, and he was a solid runner-up in that first start off the bench. He resurfaced on Sunday evening at Windsor Raceway for trainer Dan Creighton, and front-stepped his way to a 2:01.2 victory – the 41st of his career.
Nick Steward rolled Eldorado Max through panels of :28.4, 1:01 and 1:31.2 before using a :30-second final frame to seal the deal with the son of S Js Photo-Victory Air, who watched his lifetime earnings climb past $500,000.
He racked up seven wins during his 2009 and 2010 campaigns, but it was back in 2002 when he celebrated his biggest season. He won eight races, banked over $110,000 and took his lifetime mark of 1:55.1. Despite being past his prime, the gritty gelding continues to chalk up the wins and the earnings for the Danterra Racing Stable of Strathroy, ON.
