On Thursday, April 4, while speaking at the Vollmer Centre in LaSalle, Ontario Progressive Conservative Party Leader Tim Hudak voiced his support for the Lakeshore Horse Raceway group's push to bring a new harness raceway to Essex County.
The news comes courtesy of an article by blackburnnews.com, which also cites Hudak as reiterating that his party would privatize Ontario's gaming sector if the Provincial PCs get into power.
The report quotes Hudak as saying that the Ontario Liberal Party's decision to end the slots-at-racetracks program is not helping the province's unemployment problem.
“This notion of opening up 29 new casinos God knows where and closing down all the racetracks, that’s going to throw 65,000 people out of work,” Hudak was quoted as saying. “We already have 600,000 people looking for a job. We don’t need to add more to that. We have to go the other direction, and create jobs.”

Right you are Norm....Mr.
Right you are Norm....Mr. HUdak should get off his butt and fight better than he has been doing.....He is all talk and no action that I have noticed lately and as for the lawyers....The only one we have heard from is Mr. Burgess QC....I suggested 5 months ago that some of the lawyers involved in racing be brought on board for this fight....so far NOTHING !! so with that all of the smaller racing stables will disappear.....what a pity but I guess the welfare rolls & employment insurance will look after all of these out of work folks..
Great Tim talk up a storm but
Great Tim talk up a storm but real action comes when you bring down the Liberals, you have failed in any partnership with the NDP stating that their policies are too far from your own while the horse industry fades into Liberal Dust. Show us results not promises.
this is a great idea but i do
this is a great idea but i do not think the LIBERALS will give them money. We have to find some legal way to over turn this ruling. WE have enough lawyers in racing... get your heads together and save us from ending up in a shelter and horses going for meat in FRANCE
