It has been reported that a harness racetrack that has been going to through a well-publicized rebranding has unveiled its new name, and that name has no mention of horses or horse racing in it.
Multiple articles state that Saratoga Casino and Raceway, the historic Standardbred facility located in upstate New York, will now be known as Saratoga Casino Hotel.
An article by The Daily Gazette has quoted Rita Cox, the facility’s senior VP of marketing and external affairs, as saying that the facility is now “positioned as a comprehensive entertainment destination” for the first time in its 75-year existence.
The Daily Gazette article explains that construction crews mounted signage with the new branding on Wednesday (April 27). The hotel is still a few months away from being open for business. It is expected that the hotel will be open in July.
The hotel will boast 117 rooms once it is completed and will also feature a slate of other amenities, including a pool, fitness centre, business lounge, steakhouse and a 3,000 square-foot space for meetings and events. Cox stated earlier this month that the rebranding was being done in conjunction with the racino's ad agency, RPM Advertising of Chicago, which has experience in gaming branding.
The Daily Gazette article has also quoted Cox as saying, “we believe with this hotel we are competing on a level playing field with other destinations,” and that “the new name is about offering everything under one roof.”
