On Wednesday, TSN announced that the Peterborough’s PMHA Mad Dogs junior hockey team, co-coached by standardbred owner and veterinarian Dr. Paul Johnston, is this year's winner of the "Team Up and Bring Home the Cup Contest"

.

Part of the grand prize package includes an Ultimate Playoff Party at the end of May and a visit by Hockey Hall of Famer Mark Messier with the Stanley Cup.

“When they phoned me, it was a sense of elation and relief," Johnston told the Peterborough Examiner. "You have no idea how much work went into this."

Johnston entered his hockey team in the Canada-wide contest sponsored by TSN, Pepsi-QTG Canada, Frito Lay and Gatorade, which required teams to earn the most number of votes on their web pages.

“It's going to be an awesome night," said Johnston.

Great job Paul and team. You beat some BIG cities with hard work. Standardbred Canada should put you in charge of getting us some fans!
