O'Brien Award winner Nebupanezzar, who has not raced pari-mutuelly since his million-dollar two-year-old campaign in 2008, recorded his first charted mile since April of last year during this morning's qualifying session at
Windsor Raceway.
In rein to Ron Henderson during the fourth qualifier of the morning, Nebupanezzar left from Post 6 and was first at every call (:29, :57.3 and 1:25.2) for trainer Bob McIntosh.
The four-year-old son of No Pan Intended--Western Wonder had expanded his lead by the time he reached every station. The career winner of 10 of 14 races was ahead by eight lengths at the three quarters before kicking home with a :27.2 final quarter. The margin of victory turned out to be 19 lengths and the win time 1:52.4.
Earlier on the docket, Nebupanezzar's full older brother, The Mohegan Pan, also qualified in good order for McIntosh.
Henderson was up behind The Mohegan Pan in Race 2 and started from Post 6. The pair were also first to every call, as they clicked off the fractions in :29, :59.1 and 1:27.3. The five-year-old kicked home in :27.3 and posted a two-length win in 1:55.1.
