Rain in the Campbellville area drenched the Monday morning qualifying session at Mohawk Racetrack

. A headliner that was planning on coming off the shelf didn't end up racing, but a pair of colts eligible to the Pepsi North America Cup did put in miles.

Only five of the seven horses scheduled to contest Race 1 faced the gate, as the track was rated 'sloppy' with a three-second allowance in time given. After getting out to the early lead, Allamerican Improv and pilot Dave Boughton sat a two-hole trip and finished second, more than seven lengths behind Yellow Diamond, who stopped the clock in 1:58.

Allamerican Improv, who has been rated at odds of 55-1 in Trot Magazine's 2009 Pepsi North America Cup Spring Book, paced his mile in 1:59.2.

Ok Boromir (85-1 in Spring Book) topped a four-horse field in Race 3, as driver Luc Ouellette steered the student of Frank Baker, Jr. to a three and a half-length victory in 1:58. Ouellette went from third to first in the second quarter and cut the rest of the fractions.

Millionaire Northern Luck gelding Silent Swing was scheduled to contest Race 3, but the bay seven-year-old did not race. Silent Swing last put in a charted line November 22, 2008.
