Somewhere A Place dominated her rivals in the $75,000 Penny Bath Memorial Stakes for three-year-old pacing fillies as she romped to an open-length victory on Friday night (April 1) at Fraser Downs.

Serge Masse owns, trains and drives the Somebeachsomewhere-Duncans Artsplace filly, who notched her fifth straight victory.

Somewhere A Place, from post two, found a spot in the pocket early on as Hanalei Bay (Bill Davis) fired to the front from post seven during a :28.2 first quarter. As the fillies raced in front of the grandstand for the first time, Somewhere A Place looped the early leaver and reached the half-mile mark in :59 while Cenalta Artistry (Rene Goulet) advanced first over from sixth. Somewhere A Place began to separate from her foes down the backstretch to three-quarters in 1:26.4 and drew off down the lane, widening her winning margin to seven and a half lengths and establishing a new lifetime mark of 1:55 flat. No Guarantees (Brandon Campbell) came on for second-place and Telegraph Hanover (David Hudon) was third over Cenalta Artistry. Hanalei Bay completed the top five finisher order.

Somewhere A Place, a B.C. stakes winner last November, was the 2-5 favourite and paid $2.90 to win. She now has eight victories from 13 career starts, with earnings soaring to $79,556.
