Eleven days removed from a career-best performance at Woodbine Racetrack in a $20,000 conditioned event, Memumsnotnice took her show on the road to London’s The Raceway at The Western Fair District and came away with a round trip to victory lane.

The Corey Johnson trainee went to the front and didn’t look back en route to an impressive score in the $10,500 Fillies & Mares Preferred for pacers.

With Jonathan Drury at the lines, Memumsnotnice shot to the top from Post 3 and successfully threw down splits of :28.3, :58.1 and 1:26.2 before using a :30.3 closing panel en route to winning by a neck over Mc Taylor in 1:57. Shes A Maniac took home third prize in the eight-mare affair.

The four-year-old daughter of Jeremes Jet-Bunny Town, who was sent off as the 6-5 favourite, improved this year’s scorecard to 3-2-0 from nine trips postward with the win. The career winner of $202,570 is owned by Debbie Element of Laval, QC and Fred Brayford of Alliston, ON.

Thatll Be Franny, who was named the track’s Older Pacing Mare of the Year in 2012, was away victorious in the very next race – the $8,400 Fillies & Mares Preferred 2 for pacers – for the tandem of driver Nick Steward and trainer Ken Gowan.

Sent off as the 4-5 favourite, the nine-year-old daughter of Thatll Be Me-Little Franny went down the road through panels of :28.3, :58.1 and 1:26.3 before using a :29.2 final quarter to seal the deal by 1-3/4 lengths in 1:56. Rachel Olivia was next best, with the show position going to Ostinato.

Audrey Crawford of Wallacetown, ON bred and owns the 16-time winner, who now boasts a bankroll of $153,769. The mare owns a 2-2-1 record from just nine trips to the track in 2013.

Putnam Mackenzie also came through with a popular score in the $5,600 Fillies & Mares Preferred 3 for pacers, and she did so in front-stepping fashion just like the other Preferred winners on the card.

Trevor Henry hustled the six-year-old daughter of Grinfromeartoear-Royas Bambi to immediate command from Post 2 and the distaffer sliced out fractions of :28.4, :58.4 and 1:26.4 before cruising home in :30.1 to win by 2-1/4 lengths over Ground Shaker in 1:57. Daylon Highland completed the Triactor ticket.

Sent off at 2-5, Putnam Mackenzie won for the first time this season – and for the 21st time in her career – while pushing her lifetime earnings to $327,680. Dan Creighton trains the OSS graduate for owner/breeder Putnam Training Centre Ltd of Mossley, ON.
