A four-race maiden entering the day, Kenziesky Hanover performed like a seasoned veteran with a facile front-end victory in Wednesday’s (April 11) second leg of the Margaret Provost Memorial Trot at The Meadows.

Pembroke Mystery captured the other $15,000 division in the event for three-year-old fillies.

On Saturday afternoon, April 21, The Meadows will host the $25,000 (est.) finals of four current late-closing series, including the Margaret Provost.

In last week’s series opener, Treasure Dreams rallied to edge Kenziesky Hanover at the wire. On Wednesday, Kenziesky Hanover drew away from the pocket-sitting Treasure Dreams—the 1-5 favourite—to defeat her by 2-1/2 lengths in 1:57.2. Mother May I finished third. Brian Zendt piloted the daughter of Cantab Hall-Kandor Hanover for trainer Bill Zendt and owners J. Patrick Huber and Glenn Congrove.

In the $18,000 Preferred Handicap Trot for fillies and mares, Fancytucky unleashed her characteristic late kick and scored in 1:56.3 for Tony Hall and trainer Troy McDougal, who owns with James Steuernagel. The six-year-old daughter of Pinetucky-Beaucoup Amour lifted her career bankroll to $159,663. It was one of three wins for Hall on the 13-race card.

Live racing at The Meadows resumes Saturday (April 14), with first post at 1:05 p.m.
