Sheriff Tyler was a longshot for the second straight week in the $13,000 Open Trot at Windsor Raceway, but that didn't deter him from making a confident first-over move and marching right on by his foes for an upset victory

Wednesday night.

Mark MacQuarrie settled the Lockkeeper-Sizzlers Hustle trotter into fifth from the inside post position during a :28-second opening quarter and waited until near the :56.4 half-mile mark to launch his attack. Sheriff Tyler brushed to command and opened up two lengths on his foes by the 1:27 three-quarters pole before cruising home for the 1:57.2 triumph. CIS Buckeye (Marc St. Louis) and Winzel (Don Rankin Jr.) rallied home for second and third.

The victory was his second in seven starts this year under the ownership of conditioner Rebekah Cunmulaj. The former Michigan fair circuit competitor has won 15 races lifetime while earning $61,331 in purses.

Sheriff Tyler paid $28.20 for the 13-1 upset.
