Warrawee Iceman was posted as the unofficial winner in Sunday’s $13,000 Open Pace at Fraser Downs
, but it didn’t take long for his number to start to flashing on the toteboard.
The Judges on staff at Fraser Downs reviewed films of the race and came to the conclusion that Warrawee Iceman had interfered with Royal Morn near the head of the lane, and that resulted in a number of changes to the order of finish.
Silk Puddles, who crossed the line in the runner-up position, eventually had his number promoted to the top spot, which earned his connections a $6,5,00 payday instead of a picking up a cheque originally valued at $3,250.
Larry Schmidt of Abbotsford, BC holds the papers on the Bill Davis trained and driven, six-year-old son of Dancing Puddles. Double L Trump was third-placed second and Born Again Dragon was fourth-place-third.
Royal Morn, who was the fifth horse to cross the finish line, was interfered with by Warrawee Iceman just before the field arrived at the top of the stretch. As a result of the interference infraction, Warrawee Iceman was first-placed-fifth for causing stretch interference to Royal Morn, who finished fifth and was later promoted to fourth.
Sent off at odds of 18-1, Silk Puddles notched the 19th win of his career while bumping his overall bankroll to $256,902.
