Officials with the Nova Scotia Provincial Exhibition are breathing a sigh of relief, as the agridome roof that was damaged during a wind storm last fall is in the process of being fixed.
The wind storm had caused the 2015 edition of the Nova Scotia Provincial Exhibition Select Yearling Sale to be moved to the MacMillan Show Centre, which is also located on the Truro Exhibition grounds.
The agridome’s damaged roof was in the midst of being repaired late last year, but a significant glitch in the process had thrown the endeavour off course. The Intertape Polymer Group had donated replacement material for the roof. The material had then been shipped to Saskatchewan to be shaped, fitted and sewn. The material then arrived back in Nova Scotia, where it was realized that it would not fit due to improper sizing.
As an article by CTV News Atlantic explains, the structure has been open to the elements over the winter, but that everything has been fine.
The article has quoted commission member Bruce Kennedy as saying that the snow that entered the facility this winter did not have to be touched. “Snow came in, snow went out with Mother Nature,” said Kennedy, who also stated that the area didn’t get a whole lot of snow, either.
The job is expected to be finished this week, as a dog show is booked for the agridome this coming weekend.
