There was no kidding around from Sid The Kid on Sunday (March 29) at Woodbine Mohawk Park, with the trotter making his intentions clear from the outset and leading every step of the way in the $26,000 conditioned trotting feature with driver Tyler Borth aboard.

Scratched down to a field of six trotters who were non-winners of $12,000 in their last four, Borth and Sid The Kid began their mission from post five as the 1-5 favourite. Wasting little time getting to the front end, Sid The Kid blitzed off the wings to grab control in front of a pocket-sitting Amazing Catch (James MacDonald) through a hot opening quarter of :27.2. The half-dozen raced single-file on the backstretch, allowing Sid The Kid a breather on the engine to the halfway point in :57. Right Here Hanover (Bob McClure) was the first to move from fourth, charging first-over around the final turn to reach the leader's wheel at three-quarters in 1:26.1.

Sid The Kid countered turning for home, maintaining his advantage with a confident Borth in the bike with Right Here Hanover keeping Amazing Catch pinned to the cones in third behind the leader. Trotting home in :27.4, Sid The Kid crossed the wire 1-1/4 lengths clear of Right Here Hanover, who edged out Amazing Catch for second, to stop the clock in 1:54.

Trained by Benoir Baillargeon, Sid The Kid has won back-to-back and four of nine in 2026. The five-year-old homebred Alarm Detector-Miss Congeniality gelding has banked $324,150 for owners Thomas and Elizabeth Rankin of St Catharines, Ont.

Earlier on the 11-race program, Southwind Domino (Travis Henry, $76.90) delivered a 37-1 shocker to take the $30,000 Pop-Up Series Final for trotters who have started for a purse of $11,000 or less this year in 1:54.2 for trainer Garry Merner.

In other Pop-Up Series action, the third $8,500 third leg was contested for $7,500 claimers with a pair of divisions for male and female pacers. The driver and trainer team of Travis and Jodie Cullen swept the male splits, winning the first with Tellit Russ Tellit ($3.30, 1:54), before taking the second with Early Play ($7, 1:53.1).

Louis-Philippe Roy took the first division for the fillies and mares with This Girl Rules ($3.80, 1:53.4) for trainer Raphael Bourassa, with the second going to driver James MacDonald aboard Muchtooyoungforyou ($10.40, 1:54.3) for trainer Terry Gallant.
