Baseball Theme At Mohawk Park

It was opening day for Major League Baseball, and fittingly there was a strong ‘baseball’ theme in play during Thursday’s program at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

Trotter Encarnacion, name after the hard hitting slugger from the Seattle Mariners, smacked one out of the park when he cruised to four-length triumph in Race 3. Sylvain Filion mapped out the winning trip for the Rod Boyd trainee who halted the teletimer in 1:57.2.

Teamster Louis Philippe Roy also did his part thanks to his ‘Grand Slam’ in the racebike.

The multiple O’Brien Award-winning reinsman got the ball rolling with Lady Finetune (1:53.4) in Race 4, and tacked on wins with Tragically Zip (1:52) in Race 7, Rocky J Squirrel (1:53.2) in Race 9 and Noahs Mill (1:51.4) in Race 10.
