One of the Cinderella stories of the year at Woodbine Racetrack has turned out to be trotter Sakic Seelster, who took his game to a whole new level

on Monday night for trainer Ben Baillargeon.

Sakic Seelster took a three-race win streak into tonight’s edition of the $50,000 Open Trot, and he pushed the streak to four after touring the oval in a career-best clocking of 1:53.1 for driver Jack Moiseyev.

Moiseyev tucked the five-year-old son of Eager Seelster into the three-hole while Logan AAS buzzed the field to the quarter pole in :27 seconds. Moiseyev rolled his charge off the pylons and brushed to the top in the second quarter, and once in charge he supplied middle splits of :56.1 and 1:25 before storming home in :28.1 to secure the win.

Armbro Chronicle, who was sent off as the 7-5 favourite in the eight-horse tilt, rallied to finish second while Mapleleaf Buddy, who was sent off at odds of 59-1, rounded out the Triactor ticket.

Santo Vena of Brampton and Nunzio Vena of Bolton, ON share ownership on the 13-time winner, who is now 7-for-8 this season. The $25,000 payday lifted Sakic Seelster’s 2009 earnings to $97,500 and his overall purse haul to $173,825.
