When Hoosier Park Racing & Casino opens the doors for the 2016 live racing season on Friday, April 1, it will mark a new era of viewing harness racing in the state of Indiana.
New for the 2016 season, Hoosier Park will broadcast its signal in high definition, joining a select number of racetracks across the country that provide state-of-the-art high definition television capabilities.
All simulcast outlets nationally and internationally which are equipped to receive high definition will be able to access the signal in HD and all of the televisions on-track at Hoosier Park will show the advanced upgrade. The infield video board will also provide a live digital image of the racing action on a 16 x 27 foot high-definition television screen. In addition, Hoosier Park will debut an updated, custom designed graphics package for the 160-day meet.
"Hoosier Park is extremely proud to be offering a high definition broadcast signal for the 2016 season,” said Rick Moore, Hoosier Park’s vice president and general manager of racing. “This marks the next evolution in providing a truly outstanding viewing product both to the on-track patron as well as those watching us from off-track sites. This investment reinforces the ongoing commitment by Centaur Gaming to harness racing in Indiana."
Hoosier Park will become one of only three harness tracks to broadcast in high-definition in the United States joining The Meadowlands Racetrack in New Jersey and Monticello Raceway in New York. Canada's Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto, Ontario is the only other harness racing track to offer a high definition broadcast.
Along with the high definition improvements, Hoosier Park made broadcast equipment upgrades throughout the entire property, added 27 new camera locations, and will continue to feature the Trakus system to enhance the way racing fans experience race day action. Hoosier Park’s broadcast studio will also undergo renovations as part of the high-definition transition.
Now in the 23rd season of live racing, Hoosier Park is set to begin live racing with a daily post time of 5:45 p.m. Hoosier Park’s signature event, the $300,000 Dan Patch Stakes, is slated for Friday, August 12. For more information on the 2016 stakes schedule, please click here.
