After being locked in last week, Corey Callahan put Tagyoureit Hanover on the front end en route to a track-record 1:53 performance in the $27,500 Open Handicap Trot on another picture-perfect day that turned to foggy late in the program

Wednesday, March 21 at Dover Downs.

Following two straight wins to start the New Year, Tagyoureit Hanover had bad racing luck in his next two. This time with Corey Callahan at the controls, the Andover Hall-Tags Sweetie gelding took no prisoners on the way to a 1:53 track and lifetime mark in the week’s top trot. The former track record of 1:53.2 was set 13 months ago by Winning Mister, driven by Matt Kakaley.

Tagyoureit Hanover’s victory, for owners Ken Wood, Brian Gordon, Tom Rekoon and Sandy Goldberg, came at the expense of a strong field of rivals. The Eric Ell-conditioned diagonal-gaited six-year-old has now earned $43,350 in his five starts raising his career total to $280,389.

Dont Know Chip, winner of the last two headliners, closed from far back for Vince Copeland to take second. Looking Hanover with Yannick Gingras was third.

Second Hand News dropped down a class and proved the best in the $22,500 Junior Open Handicap Trot. Trained by Brit Evans, who co-owns the Pathway To Victory-Mohawk Super Night gelding with Foulk Stables, the veteran out-legged Luvyabutleave (Ross Wolfenden) and Idol Kemp (George Dennis) for his first win of the year in his second start. The win pushes Second Hand News’ career bankroll to $208,882.

Struttin Conway scored his second straight triumph and sixth of 2012 winning a $16,000 sub-feature trot in a lifetime best 1:55.4. It was the second win on the card for Tony Morgan driving the Conway Hall-Bright Leaf four-year-old for Chasing Paper and Josh Green. Uwantapieceofme (George Dennis) and Gurf (Allan Davis) finished second and third respectively. Struttin Conway has won $48,600 this season and $67,278 lifetime.
