During the course of her extensive public relations career in the harness racing industry, Ellen Harvey was the one that aimed the spotlight at the industry’s best. Now, the shoe is on the other foot, as the semi-retired PR dynamo is the one answering the questions.
If you didn’t know that much about Harvey before, you sure will now, as the Observer-Reporter has profiled the longtime Standardbred publicist.
Ellen, who hails from the famous ‘Harvey’ harness racing family, recently ‘semi-retired’ from the United States Trotting Association.
“I think what is really unique about her and what makes her so noteworthy and special, is she is very smart, and truly understands the industry from bottom to top because of her family,” said Christine Blaine, former publicity director at the Meadows. “If you take that kind of knowledge and put it into the equation, I don’t think you could have anyone better or more suited to promote the industry as Ellen.”
Blaine went on to say that Ellen, “has been involved (in the industry) since the day she was born. She has all the smarts to go with it and the personality. She can talk to anybody – from the most sophisticated to the most common. Ellen has the perfect blend of assets to further the racing industry.”

That article (and this one)
That article (and this one) almost did Ellen Harvey justice. It was and is always great fun, challenging and never dull working with and being friends with EH. Ellen brought something invaluable and irreplaceable to the USTA. As she does wherever she goes. But especially to the USTA.
