The 329 food and beverage workers which were locked out by the Woodbine Entertainment Group this past weekend have accepted a deal by the company that was originally turned down by union negotiators
.
An article by The Toronto Star explains that the union did not disclose the breakdown numbers from the vote, which took place yesterday.
"We are extremely pleased that the workers recognized that it was a fair offer that we were making and we are so delighted to have them coming back to work," Jane Holmes, WEG Vice President of Corporate Affairs, was quoted as saying.
The report also quotes 25-year WEG food and beverage employee Tony Bennett as saying that many of the locked-out workers accepted the offer begrudgingly.
"Some did so facing the prospect of a potentially long lockout," he was quoted as saying, "so for them it was the choice between the least of two evils."
