In a move geared to maximize gaming dollars and keep capital from exiting the state, legislation proposed in New York is seeking to have racino hours extended and the types of games they offer expanded
According to a report on midhudsonnews.com, Senator Jeffrey Klein has sponsored the bill. The article also cites him as saying that the move would lead to an additional $100 million annually for the state to be directed to education.
The article cites Klein as saying that in 2007 nearly a quarter of the more than 26 million visitors to Atlantic City were from New York State, and that those people each spent an average of $550. With those gambling dollars going out of the state in that instance, Klein assessed the total estimated negative economic impact on the state of New York of $3.3 billion.
