Top US trotter Jujubee is preparing for his four-year-old campaign that will keep him focused on tackling the North American competition as his connections have declined an invitation to the Elitloppet, according to a local article.
Perhaps a case of mistaken identity resulting in a light two-year-old season benefitted
A mix up with another horse landed the Pennsylvania-bred in Ohio as a freshman, but once it was sorted out and he made it to the races, the son of Creatine took his connections on a thrilling ride. He won 14 of his 18 races and earned nearly $950,000 during his sophomore season.
Owned by John Erdner and trained by Greg Wright Jr., Jujubee is back in training at the Palema Training Center in Florida with an expected return to racing in early April.
“There is every reason to believe (Jujubee can) shine as a four-year-old, racing against the best on the East Coast,” Erdner was quoted as saying in an Observer-Reporter article that reports the connections passed on the Elitloppet invite this year.
“He’s fast and ready to roll right now," Wright said of the trotter with two sub-1:50 miles on his resume. "My challenge is to keep him from peaking too early.”
