Trotters tussled in series action Monday evening at Woodbine Mohawk Park, as the Campbellville oval hosted round two of the Wine & Roses Trotting Series and the Family Day Trotting Series.

Charmbo Prince was a repeat winner in the Family Day Trotting Series for driver Mike Saftic and trainer Jack Rier.

The four-year-old son of Royalty For Life-Hetties Charm dictated the terms of the tempo when he threw down very sensible fractions of :28.4, 1:00 and 1:30.3. It turned into a final quarter sprint, and Charmbo Prince uncorked :27-second speed in the final frame en route to winning by a length over Franks Angel in 1:57.2. Toccoa Falls was third.

Sent off as the even-money choice in the seven-horse affair, the homebred won for the second time this season and for the fifth time in his career. The gelding, owned and bred by Jack & Randy Rier, bumped his lifetime earnings to $82,953 with the win.

Meadowbranch Noble turned a two-hole trip into a second division score for driver Scott Young and trainer Colin Johnson.

The four-year-old son of Explosive Matter-Wen Mars Memo sprinted to the early lead and had the field chasing him to the quarter pole in :27.3. Bronze Yankee rallied from the three-hole in the backstretch, and he quickly seized command. He went on to slice out middle splits of :57.4 and 1:27.4, but he couldn’t fend off deep stretch pressure. RJS Invictus came at him on the outside, and Meadowbranch Noble snuck through an opening up the rail. Meadowbranch Noble’s final quarter of :28.1 was enough to earn him the win by three-quarters of a length over RJS Invictus in 1:56.1. Bronze Yankee was third.

The improved the gelding’s 2021 record to 1-2-1 from four starts for owner Debbie Element of Rockwood, ON. The three-time winner pushed his lifetime earnings over $60,000 with the win.

Tesla Seelster erupted for a 25-1 upset score in the lone division of the Wine & Roses Trotting Series for the tandem of driver Denis St. Pierre and trainer Tiffanee Staley.

The four-year-old daughter of Muscle Mass-Tara Seelster sat fourth for most of the mile while Destiny Blue Chip and HP Starlette took turns on the lead through fractions of :27.3, :57 and 1:26.4. Tesla Seelster revved up her engine in the lane, though, and used a :28.1 final frame to win by 2-3/4 lengths over HP Starlette in a career-best clocking of 1:55.3. Third prize went to longshot Oh Lina.

Gestion R Zane Inc of Laval, QC owns the two-time winner who lifted her lifetime earnings to $27,940 with the victory.

The card also featured the $34,000 Preferred Trot, and in that tilt it was more of the same for the white hot Buck Dancer.

The Carmen Auciello trainee rallied to win his third consecutive start, and he did so with the greatest of ease yet again.

James MacDonald got away fifth with his charge while Perfetto and Its Academic took turns on the lead through fractions of :27.2, :57.1 and 1:26.1. Oney Hall came first over heading into the final turn and MacDonald was quick to grab that foe’s cover with Buck Dancer. MacDonald tipped his charge off cover in the lane and the gelding’s :27.2 closing quarter earned him the win by 1-3/4 lengths over Its Academic in 1:54. Zig Zag grabbed the show dough.

The victory improved Buck Dancer’s 2021 record to 4-1-0 from eight starts for owner Fox Racing Inc of New York. The five-year-old son of Guccio-Shaken Not Stirred is a 14-time winner with earnings in excess of $143,000.
