A vote in the New Hampshire House of Representatives on Wednesday, February 8 didn't go according to plan for proponents of expanded gaming in the state

.

According to a report by the Concord Monitor, the house voted 257-91 to send House Bill 593 back to committee. New amendments to House Bill 593 now see the piece of legislation call for four expanding gaming locations in the state instead of the two that the original draft of the bill called for.

House Ways and Means Chairman Stephen Stepanek has stated that in light of the amendment to the bill, time and public input must be allowed to get a better grasp on the legislation before consideration.

"We're trying to be as open and transparent as possible," the report has quoted Stepanek as saying.

There will now be a public hearing in regard to the bill scheduled for Monday, February 13.

Harness raceway Rockingham Park is considered one of the frontrunners to land expanded gaming if the bill is written into law.
