Preferred Winner Ultra 'Impressive'

Twin B Impressive came up a neck short in last week’s Horses & Geldings Preferred 2 at The Raceway at Western Fair District, but he was right on the money in Tuesday’s follow-up try in the track’s top class.

With Trevor Henry at the controls, Twin B Impressive tracked cover before powering his way the lead in the late stages of the mile en route to the 1:56.1 tally.

The gelding got away last in the six-horse affair while Emerald Lexus muscled his way to the top and carved out panels of :27.4, :57.4 and 1:26.3. Lucky Terror prompted the leader from first-over for the final half of the contest, and right on his back was Twin B Impressive. The Richard Moreau pupil kicked off cover going to the three-quarter pole, and his :29-second closing quarter helped propel him to the win by 1-3/4 lengths over Emerald Lexus. Third prize was earned by Kendal Gustav.

Sent off as the 1-5 favourite, the six-year-old son of Bettors Delight-Impeccant won for the second time this season and for the 16th time in his career. Brad Grant of Milton, Ontario owns the career winner of $259,172.

Stompin Tom Creek survived a first-over journey and eventually drew away from the foes he faced in the $7,000 Horses & Geldings Preferred 3. Billy Davis, Jr. went into attack mode going to the half with the Andrew McCabe trainee, and after battling with pacesetter Stoney Durkin he eventually drew clear to win by 3-1/4 lengths over Lawmen Reign in 1:57. Taking home the show dough was Bestofthebunch.

Glenview Livestock Ltd of Guelph-Eramosa, Ontario owns the eight-year-old son of Western Terror-Jacks Creek. It was the second win four tries this season for the 27-time winner. His share of the loot lifted his lifetime earnings to $242,042.
