Winacott On Upcoming Milestone

His horses always get serious consideration by handicappers when they are in to go, and this afternoon trainer Mark Winacott commented on an upcoming milestone and the five he has in to go today at Kawartha Downs.

Sitting on 997 career training wins heading into Kawartha's Tuesday card, Winacott told Trot Insider that the milestone has been on his mind for a while now -- long enough for it to become a bit of a monkey on his back.

"It's a very big milestone; I'm excited about it," Winacott, 47, explained. "I was trying to get it last year, but ended up falling a little short. I thought I would've gotten it by now, to tell you the truth. Yeah, it's been on my mind a little."

The trainer explained that as for goals for the 2009 campaign, having his stable record 200 wins would be great, and making more of an impact on the WEG circuit would be a plus, too.

"I've been thinking of racing a little more in Toronto," Winacott said. "If I get some higher quality stock I think I could win some races."

But the present is of the essence right now and Winacott has five in to go this afternoon at Kawartha (4:15 p.m. first race post time). So the question is: who do you like? Who are the horses that may help you get that milestone this afternoon?

"I think three horses in particular this afternoon have good shots. Island Of Luck (Race 2, PP5, G. Brown, 8-5), Bookie (Race 3, PP9, G. Brown, 3-1) and Never Enuff Luck (Race 11, PP8, G. Brown, 3-1)."

Mark has done well coming to Woodbine and shows some of his exhisting horses can compete which is a credit to him. Hopefully he will get this milestone by the weekend. I agree with MSK I like I'll CALL U BACK as well and the win on the WEG circuit would really be a special reward for the hard working trainer(Winky).
