A 'Dynasty' Beginning?

She utilized a wire-to-wire trip to the winner’s circle in the $20,000 opening round of the Miss Vera Bars Pacing Series for three-year-old fillies last week, but Murray Brethour trainee Artists Dynasty may have her work cut out for her in the second leg on Thursday night (February 5) at Woodbine Racetrack.

She’ll be up against Casie Coleman pupil Wish All You Want, a brown daughter of Western Terror who has never been worse than third in her short career. In four starts, Wish All You Want has racked up two wins – most recently in a $19,000 condition event on January 29 at Woodbine – a second, and a third, and already has put nearly $25,000 in the coffers for owners Mike Lindley and Steve Calhoun of Chatham, Ont., and the West Wins Stable of Cambridge, Ont.

Artists Dynasty has more mileage under her belt – a record of 3-2-1 in nine starts – which gives her the edge in the morning line, where she’s rated at 8-5. But Wish All You Want is being given serious respect at 2-1. She’ll be leaving from Post 6 in the short seven-filly field in the second of the two Miss Vera Bars splits on February 5 (Race 3, 8:08 p.m.).

Brethour’s Mylittlerebel, who also cruised unchallenged to a win in the series opener last week, looks to be the dominant force going into the first Miss Vera Bars event on the same night (Race 1, 7:30 p.m.). She’s been rated the 4-5 favourite in a field of six sophomore lasses.

The $45,000 (estimated) final of the Miss Vera Bars Pacing Series will go postward on Thursday, February 12.
