Jamieson, Tetrick Make Headlines

As the third leg of the World Driving Championship is set for Tuesday night -- early Tuesday morning in North America -- both of the drivers most familiar to this hemisphere are getting themselves some ink in the local papers.

Canada's Jody Jamieson was interviewed by The Daily Advertiser in advance of the seven-race leg at Wagga, noting that the fields in this leg might play to his strengths.

"That was my forte, that's what made me -- a half mile track and pacers -- so I'm really looking forward," said Jamieson, who currently sits seventh with 29 points.

U.S. rep Tim Tetrick, second to Australia's Chris Alford with 47 points, hears that the track at Wagga is a throwback his earlier days as a driver.

"At Wagga Wagga they said it was a little tight, kind of like our county fairs that we used to race on," Tetrick told The Daily Advertiser. "You have to be safe and don't get hurt and have fun."

After the first two legs, local favourite Chris Alford has the lead with 52 points, just ahead of Tetrick and Finland's Mika Forss. Here are the complete standings after two legs.

  1. Chris Alford (Australia) - 52

  2. Tim Tetrick (USA) - 47

  3. Mika Forss (Finland) - 43

  4. Tony Le Beller (France) - 33
