With Ed Hensley in the bike, both Ashleigh Hensley students, Major League N and Andy Over, were victorious in their respective Preferred classes at The Raceway at the Western Fair District on Tuesday, Feb. 20. Each class carried an $11,000 purse.
Major League N kicked off the action for Team Hensley as she took post four in the Fillies and Mares Preferred Handicap Pace.
Ed Hensley sent her straight to the top and the pair clicked out panels in :28.4, :58.3 and 1:26.3 before continuing home to a three-quarter length victory in 1:55.1. Shoot The Whiskey (Travis Cullen) finished second with Randomirogeo (Jason Ryan) third.
Ed & Ashleigh Hensley own the 11-year-old Gotta Go Cullen-Candlestick Park mare, who earned her first win of the year and 38th career victory from 157 starts. Major League N moved her bankroll to $367,288. As the 2-1 second choice, the mare returned $6.20 to win.
Andy Over followed his stablemate's performance with a win in the Preferred Handicap Trot off a difficult journey to the winner's circle.
From post seven, Andy Over and Ed Hensley eased into seventh through an opening panel in :29. En route to the 1:00 half, Hensley tipped Andy Over to the outside, chasing the cover of a first over Treasured Tee (Travis Henry). Andy Over closed the gap between himself and the duelling leaders and then moved over once more. Three-wide at the three-quarters in 1:29.1, Andy Over had made his way into second. He pressed forward and went on to win by a half length in 1:59. Favoured Bucktober (Tyler Borth) finished second, a half length ahead of Delgado (Scott Young).
Andy Over (Andovers Son-Victory Love) is a seven-year-old gelding also owned by Ed & Ashleigh Hensley. He earned third win in six starts this year and his 31st career tally in 160 starts while moving his bankroll to $239,292. Going off at 4-1 odds, Andy Over returned a $10 ticket to win.
