Longtime Friends Pass On The Same Day

Robert 'Bob' Smith, 83, and Ernest 'Frank' Forman, 84, longtime horsemen in the Delaware-Maryland area

passed away on January 31.

Smith and Forman were friends at the track and personally. In addition to owning horses they enjoyed Fox Hunting together as well. Smith, who resided in Felton, Del., is best remembered by the good pacing mare Eazy Dell N. Smith found her for sale in New Zealand over the internet for $20,000. Racing for Smith, she made around $200,000 in purses. After his wife passed away two daughters, Rhonda and Bonnie, worked alongside of Smith at the barn and at the track. Currently, Smith's best horse is veteran pacer Hicktown. The soft-spoken Smith is also survived by a son. Funeral and burial are private.

Forman was a fun-loving person who enjoyed the racetrack and was an avid fox hunter. One time Foreman and trainer Bobby Botsch formed an unique deal. Botsch traded one of his horses for two of Forman's best fox hunters. "Both proved to be slow," he once laughed. A resident of the Easton, Md. area where he also farmed, Forman's best horse was the pacer Brown Echo. At the time of his death, Forman was a resident of a senior citizens home in the Easton area. Funeral and burial are private.

Please join SC in offering condolences to the family and friends of Bob Smith and Frank Forman.
