
Keg Stand was up to the task on Tuesday (Feb. 18) as he and driver Tony Morgan stood tall to win the $35,211 Open Trot at Bally's Dover.
Last Glow (Jack Parker Jr.) left alertly at the start of the race, while Keg Stand surged alongside as the 1-5 favourite parked to the outside through a quarter of :27.4. Keg Stand cleared and marched to the half in 56.3 as the field of trotters remained in single file. Rivers (Corey Callahan) braved the chilly temperatures and sprinted first-over down the backstretch in pursuit of Keg Stand. Keg Stand continued confidently on the lead passing the three quarters in 1:26.
Rivers continued to gain ground first-over, but could not track down Keg Stand in the lane as he held sway by a half-length in 1:54.2 He paid $2.40 for the victory.
Nick Devita trains Keg Stand (Bar Hopping) for owners David R. Hamm and Evm Racing LLC both from Delaware.
Owner David Hamm won four races on the betting card while trainer Nicholas Devita had a training triple on the day.
Driver Tim Tetrick drove five winners to lead all drivers.
There is a $1,406 USD Pentafecta carryover to Wednesday's (Feb. 19) 14th race.
