Horse Lunges For Mid-Race Bite

Connections and handicappers alike really appreciate when a horse has a lot of fight and gives it all that he or she has got when it steps out onto the racetrack. That was the case, and then some, this past Friday, when a horse had so much fight that it leaned over and literally tried to take a bite out of an opponent, mid-race.

According to an article by The Sydney Morning Herald, the horse in question, a Thoroughbred named Majaska, was fired up for his race at Canterbury and wasn’t too pleased late in the stretch.

Maybe it was because Majaska was about to get beat by a couple of horses, but it was late in the lane where the Joe Pride trainee lunged to his right and tried to take a bite out of one of his competitors.

The competitor in question, Arise Augustus, just finished ahead of Majaska, who was ready for a good tussle on Friday, according to jockey Tye Angland.

"He came out [of the barriers] and I could tell straight away he was in the mood," jockey Tye Angland said. "He meant it as well. He was off all fours and really wanted to get at him."
