Mister Spot A Shines Amid Betts Triple

Mister Spot A threw down a final quarter of :27.2, a sizzling brush that carried him to victory — his second straight and fourth in his last five starts — in Friday’s feature at The Meadows, a $13,500 conditioned pace.

Mister Spot A was chasing the leader, Do Work Son, when he uncorked that quick panel for Tony Hall. The six-year-old Village Jolt-Eerie Iris gelding defeated Do Work Son by 1-1/2 lengths in 1:53.2, with A Real Miracle third.

Scott Betts trains Mister Spot A, who lifted his lifetime bankroll to $121,012, for Tim Betts, Nicholas Catalano, Stephen Moss and Keith Pippi. It was one of three training victories for Betts on the 13-race card.

Live racing at The Meadows resumes Monday when the program features a trio of rich wagering opportunities: a $5,000 total pool guarantee in the Pick 4 (races three through six), a $1,225.29 carryover in the Pick 5 (races two through six), an $895.50 carryover in the final-race Super Hi-5. First post is 1:05 p.m.
