Disturbed Hanover won the $35,714 Mares Open Handicap Pace in wire-to-wire fashion on Wednesday night, Feb. 12 at Bally's Dover.
Barton Dalious raced Disturbed Hanover aggressively to start the race, fending off favoured Incaseyoudidntknow (Jim Morand), who attempted to take the early lead but was forced to the pocket approaching the quarter. Disturbed Hanover continued her mission and controlled the timer with splits in :27.1, :56.4 and 1:25.2. Incaseyoudidntknow vacated the pocket racing first over to challenge the leader, but she could not catch Disturbed Hanover, who powered to a one length victory in 1:53. Incaseyoudidntknow had to settle for second and Blood Moon A (Tim Tetrick) was third.
Trained by W. Bart Dalious, the daughter of Big Jim-Driven To Sin is owned by the Wiz Kids Stable. She paid $12 to win.
Track announcer Jack Gallagher celebrated his 80th birthday on Wednesday night. Gallagher has been a fixture as track announcer at both Bally’s Dover and Harrington Raceway for over 40 years. In the 56 years of harness racing at Bally’s Dover, there have been only two track announcers: Lou Krongold, the first, and Jack Gallagher. Gallagher has always carried his blue-collar work ethic during his tenure as track announcer. He has missed only a handful of assignments through his 40-plus years.
Tim Tetrick scored seven driving wins during the 15-race card.
Captaincountrystar N will attempt to win back-to-back races in the $25,000 USD Open Handicap Pace, the 10th race on Thursday, Feb. 13. His main competition will consist of Adam Twelve, who finished second to him last week, and an ever dangerous Itsrockandroll A.
