Two mares won their fourth consecutive races during the Tuesday, Feb. 12 program at The Raceway at Western Fair District, as odds-on favourite Across Hanover wired a shortened field to win a $7,800 pace and Sunshineinmypocket swept to a four-and-a-half-length victory in the nightcap.

Driver Nick Steward sent the four-year-old Bettors Delight mare towards the top and cleared Eataams Trauma through a :30 opening quarter. Across Hanover then led the sextet around the track while Dream All Night challenged loosely first over through a 1:02 half and a 1:31.2 third quarter. The Gordon Mcdonnell trainee kicked away into the lane and through the wintry elements to best Eatamms Trauma by five-and-a-half lengths in 2:01.1. Classic Smiley, stalking the top two, took third.

Owned by Craig Turner and Tri County Racing, Across Hanover won her fourth race from nine starts, earning $22,775. She paid $2.80 to win.

In a race scratched to a five-horse field, Sunshineinmypocket circled three wide on the final lap and roared to a 2:09.2 victory going an added distance in the nightcap.

A homebred for trainer Kyle Reibeling, Sunshineinmypocket sat fourth as rail-starter Bea My Delight inherited the lead approaching a :30.4 opening quarter. Furiosa, sitting third, tipped first over heading to a 1:02.2 half while Sunshineinmypocket followed suit moving to the backstretch.

Driver Brett MacDonald angled three wide with the three-year-old Dali filly approaching three-quarters in 1:32.2 and claimed control turning into the stretch. Sunshineinmypocket coasted clear of Furiosa giving pursuit from second while even-money favourite Bea My Delight chased from third.

Winning her fourth race in six starts, Sunshineinmypocket returned $5.30 to win.
