Veteran pacer The Deputy Is Home rolled right to the front and never looked back in his second race claiming assignment on Sunday evening at Flamboro Downs, just like he did in his previous five starts this year
.
Trained by Kevin McMaster, the nine-year-old maintained his undefeated 2012 record against a field of $8,000 to $10,000 claimers as he cruised past fractions of :27.4, :57.1, and 1:25.4 en route to a five and a half length score in 1:55.3. Billy Davis Jr. was in the bike for the Shotgun Scott gelding's sixth win in a row this year. Rambaranonbroadway and Robert Shepherd edged out A Sudden Twist and J.R. Plante in the race for second-place honours.
The lion's share of the purse pushed The Deputy Is Home's seasonal earnings to $18,400 for the McMaster Stables Inc. of Guelph, Ont., while his lifetime earnings climbed to more than $292,000.
The heavy favourite returned $2.80 to his backers for a $2 win ticket.
