The trip was sweet for B Yoyo in Monday’s $34,000 Preferred Trot at Woodbine Mohawk Park, but the end result was even sweeter for the speedy gelding who kicked off cover to win the featured tilt in 1:54.3.
Louis Philippe Roy, who admitted to Trot Insider in an O'Brien Awards night interview the trotter is anything but a 'push button' horse, got away third with B Yoyo while P L Jill shot the early lead in her quest for a third straight score. She stepped past the quarter pole in :28.1 before taking the field past the mid-way point in :57.4.
P L Jill was still in charge of things at the three-quarter pole in 1:26.4, but backfield pressure was building. Dancer Hall was in attack mode from first over, Free Willy Hanover was trapped in the pocket spot and B Yoyo was launching his late bid from second over. It was B Yoyo’s :27.1 closing quarter that proved to be the difference maker as he swept by his talented foes for the win. P L Jill held on gamely to finish second, with the show dough going to Free Willy Hanover.
