Awsome Valley closed strongly along the passing lane to score a 1:54.2 victory to win the $15,500 Winners Over Trot at Dover Downs on Wednesday, Dec 4.
Tony Morgan turned Barbara Boese’s Awsome Valley loose along the inside to just get up to catch early leader Royal Malinda, driven by Ross Wolfenden, in the final strides for the Valley Victor-Nonnina Ambrosio gelding’s ninth win of the season in lifetime fastest clocking. Ryan McInnis conditions the winner of $96,742 this year. Royal Malinda was second in her first local start since arriving from upstate New York. Baximum with Daryl Bier was the show finisher.
Toby Lynch took Jailhouse Juice right to the front and was never headed in a 1:55.3 triumph in the $14,500 sub-feature trot for three and four-year-olds. Amiga Valley (Montrell Teague) came on fast to take second with Gwally (Vic Kirby) third. Lynch, who trains the Jailhouse Jesse-Win Chip gelding, owns the winner with his son Jason.
Meet leading driver Corey Callahan had to wait until the last race of the day to keep his streak of wins each day of the meet going at 23. Callahan drove Justherighttouch to a victory by a nose in 1:56. The win was his 58th of the meet.
Morgan and Allan Davis had driving triples while Trace Tetrick and Ross Wolfenden won twice. Meet leading trainer Wayne Givens, owner Legacy Racing Of DE and owner/trainer Art Brewer were also two-time winners.
